As a Senior Data Engineer you will be responsible for the design, development, and upkeep of data information needs and flow.  With a broad understanding of which applications serve as the source of data you will develop the most effective approach to ensure that all recipients of data are able to receive and access the data in the most effective manner.  A strong knowledge of tools utilized for the extraction and transfer of data, the standards utilized for the movement of data as well as the database design to support data accessibility by all applications requiring it is required.  Your role will include mentoring members of the integration team while working with the business and IT to support their data needs. 

Key Outcomes:

  • Leads and participates in aspects of the design, development, testing, implementation and maintenance of uni-directional and bi-directional interfaces in support of information needs within companies application environment.

  • Designs and implement data transfers.
  • Designs and implement data extraction, transformation and loading solutions (ETL).
  • Designs and implement databases and systems with the correct level of performance optimization.

  • Designs and implement new data flows between databases and systems.

  • Utilizes data extraction and data transfer tools and serves as a coach/mentor to team members in the use of these tools.

  • Utilizes data storage, access and transfer policies and procedures; ensuring and supporting compliance with these policies.

  • Understands industry trends and supports adoption of those trends
  • Works with external vendors and partners to execute work.
  • Mentors peers and other members of the team.
  • Trains peers and other members of the team.
  • Creates and maintains accurate and relevant network documentation including diagrams, as-built documents, configuration templates, inventories and IT Service Catalog.

  • Participates in Process Improvements and other duties as assigned.
  • Participates in after-hours work as needed.

Required Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or combination of relevant education and experience

  • 3+ years of relevant experience, with two years in a data integration environment

  • Experience in SQL database design and Service Oriented Architecture

  • Experience with Unix, SQL, Oracle, TCL as well as other scripting languages

  • 2+ years or more of HL7 interface development and deployment

  • 3+ years of healthcare industry related experience


    Legal License(s)/Certification(s) required:

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server

  • Thorough knowledge of SQL Server Integrated Services (SSIS)

  • Thorough knowledge of SQL Server Reporting Service (SSRS)

  • Thorough knowledge of database design

  • Thorough experience with Microsoft Operating Systems and applications

  • Understanding of LANs/WANs connectivity requirements, security protocols, and monitoring tools

  • Stays current with technology and use knowledge to introduce solutions

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Demonstrated ability to lead aspects of the database development process.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented and organized.

  • Able to work independently and as part of a team

  • Ability to work in a varied, fast paced environment

  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot problems.

  • Implementation of vendor-supplied web-service APIs.

  • Use of commercial interface engines.
