Note from the Hiring Manager
  • Looking for someone that can independently facilitate the payroll process; will work very closely with Finance, but will be a member of the HR team.
  • ADP Workforce Now (preferred) but must have ADP at least.
  • Advanced Excel experience required (large data sets, Vlookups, formulas, etc.).
  • Ability to do basic journal entries and general ledger variance analysis with basic comparisons and reasoning/reconciliations.
 
Position Summary
Seeking Payroll Analyst to prepare payroll and process multiple, stand-alone payrolls. The role with assist the HR Director in responsibilities such as tax reporting, benefits-records administration, and/or payroll systems maintenance. The Analyst will also actively partner with Finance on basic general ledger variance analysis and must have a solid working knowledge of picot tables within Excel.
 
Minimum Education & Experience
  • Finance or Accounting degree preferred with 3-5 years’ direct payroll experience.
  • Must have experience running payroll in multiple states.
  • Experience with processing payroll manual adjustments and assisting with reporting high-level payroll information to management.
  • Knowledge of all aspects of payroll taxes and federal and state wage/labor laws.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, written, and technical skills required.
  • Ability to meet and/or exceed deadlines while being flexible and adaptable to changing environments.
  • General knowledge of employee benefits and employment practices and insurance laws.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service to all internal and external customers.
 
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Maintain payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data.
  • Update payroll records—review changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, deductions, job titles, and/or department/division transfers and submitting to manager for final approval.
  • Assist in paying employees—manage the production and issuance of paychecks or electronic transfers to bank accounts.
  • Collaborate with Finance on various analysis and payroll related reporting activities.
  • Assist in preparation of reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages.
  • Collaborate with HR to effectively process personnel changes.
  • Assist in reconciliation of the payroll accounts by resolving payroll discrepancies, with the goal of responsibility for the reconciliations.
  • Provide payroll information by answering questions and requests.
  • Assist in maintenance of payroll guidelines by updating policies and procedures as needed.
  • Maintain employee confidence/protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Ensure all employee hours are submitted/approved and correctly uploaded into ADP.
  • Process employee wage garnishments as appropriate.
  • Maintain and manage payroll files and records.
  • Prepare quarterly and annual wage reconciliations and W2 processing.
  • Assist in journal entry preparation of payroll activity.
  • Prepare ad hoc reports out of ADP as requested by business units.
  • Assist with filing federal and state tax payments.
  • Assist in regular audits to ensure data accuract.
